5 Ways to Make Your Home Burglar-Proof

Having a great looking home, complete with great windows and doors is one thing; but making sure your home is secure is another story altogether. It is important that your home both looks great and is protected from the increasing number of break-ins that are happening more and more often around Dublin. You need to consider everything from alarms to quality window locks.

There is nothing worse than coming home and realising your home has been broken into. It is important that you take precautions to make your home as secure and burglary-proof as possible.

There are a number of ways to keep your home secure:

securing your home1. Install a monitored alarm

This one is a no-brainer. If your home has an alarm, then USE it! Of course, alarms do not guarantee that burglars will not enter your home, but they do increase the likelihood of these “no-gooders” getting caught. Make sure it is obvious your home is alarmed, by making sure you keep any shrubbery away from the sign that usually accompanies your alarm on the outside.

2. Get Motion-Sensor Lights

Motion-Sensor lights are those lights that turn on when they detect movement. If a burglar approaches your home and a light it activated, this is usually enough to deter them from getting any closer to the house.

3. Leave lights on when you are out

When you are out, there is no harm in leaving a light on in the hall, and maybe a bedroom upstairs. If a burglar thinks there is someone at home, they will be less likely to break in.

4. Get a guard dogprotecting your home

Guard dogs are a great way of deterring burglars. However, even if having a dog is not realistic, you could always get a sign saying “beware of guard dog” and place it outside. If a burglar thinks a dog is there that may start to bark, they will be worried about getting caught.

5. Great locks

The best way to protect your home via a great locking system. It is important to have install extra locks on all your windows and doors. If a burglar has to go to undue effort to get into a house, they are likely to walk away.

UPVC Window Locking Systems at Regency Windows

uPVC Window LocksHere at Regency Windows we like to give our customers that peace of mind that their home is being looked after. All our window and door frames are fully steel reinforced. They are also internally glazed so as to prevent glass removal from the outside. Furthermore, our uPVC windows come with High Security bi-directional shoot-bolt locking systems as standard, and our uPVC windows also come with hinge claws for even better security. Hinge claws allow locking points to be added to the hinge side, thus preventing a potential burglar from prying the hinge side open.

Our uPVC doors feature shoot bolts, hook bolts and high security anti-snap lock cylinders to make them the most secure door on the market today.
